DO YOU REALLY WANT STRAWBERRIES IN DECEMBER?

Hey, is anyone actually reading this blog anymore???

It's been a busy holiday season, but that's no excuse for not posting SOMETHING.... Here's a little video magic; perhaps a taste of what is to come in 2011. MORE VIDEO!!!

Just for kicks....here's a look at Tim Brown's strawberries; simply GREAT stuff!!!

I'm amazed by this every time I eat a fruit or vegetable in it's proper season. I think to myself, "Why would I ever want to eat this any other time of year?" A melon in August, a strawberry in June, asparagus in May. Why bother with it out of season? But that supermarket, year-round mentality is hard for a lot of people to break, and I wonder why they don't seem to notice the difference.

I have been following your blog for a few months and I am looking forward to coming to the restaurant for a meal. I am in total agreement with your philosophy and the way you approach your craft. I have no interest in strawberries out if season. I have however been buying thick Chilean aspargus, cutting off 20-25% then shaving the bottoms white and boiling in well salted water for 2-3 minutes. Yhey are pretty darn good and help me weather the winter tuber "eat fresh, eat local" options. Happy New Year.
